American Eagle – Ottawa Airport

IAM&AW Application for Certification

Status of the IAM&AW Application for Certification as the Bargaining Agent for all employees of American Eagle Airlines Inc., employed at the Macdonald-Cartier International Airport in Ottawa, excluding supervisors and those above the rank of supervisor.
Please be advised that yesterday, the CIRB (Federal Labour Board) granted Certification to the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM&AW) to act as the Bargaining Agent for the employees with American Eagle at the Ottawa airport.
We can now begin the process of nominating and electing two (2) workplace representatives (Union Stewards) that will also serve on your Negotiation/Bargaining Committee.
We strongly urge any employees who are interested in serving as a Union Representative, to submit their names to myself at the following contact information:

Email: sjabbar@iam140.ca

Fax: 1-866-298-0369

Over the next few days, the Union will serve the Company with a notice to begin bargaining. We anticipate that bargaining will begin to take place in the month of July. We will also be announcing a date for a meeting of the employees at American Eagle over the next week or so, and look forward to meeting and working with each and every one of you in the days and years ahead.
In the meantime, the employees normal rates of pay, etc. will continue to apply until a contract has been ratified. Also no union dues will be deducted until after you have voted on and ratified a collective agreement.
On behalf of IAM&AW and its membership, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest IAM&AW Brothers and Sisters employed at American Eagle.
