TO ALL IAMAW MEMBERS TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT 140 ELECTIONS – GENERAL CHAIRPERSONS

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
In accordance with Transportation District 140 Bylaws, Article XI, nominations and elections will be held for thirteen (13) General Chairpersons. Articles 11.01.03 and 11.01.04 stipulate that the General Chairpersons shall be apportioned as follows.

Atlantic Provinces:
One (1) AT Large Designated General Chairperson

Eastern Region:
One (1) Air Canada Designated General Chairperson
One (1) Service Designated General Chairperson

Central Region:
One (1) Air Canada Designated General Chairperson
One (1) Technical Operations, Logistical & Supply
One (1) At Large Designated General Chairperson
One (1) Service Designated General Chairpersons
One (1) Screener Designated General Chairperson

Western Region:
One (1) Air Canada Designated General Chairperson British Columbia and Yukon Territory
One (1) Service Designated General Chairperson British Columbia and Yukon Territory
One (1) At Large Designated General Chairperson British Columbia and Yukon Territory
One (1) At Large Designated General Chairperson Alberta and Northwest Territories
One (1) At Large Designated General Chairperson Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Thunder Bay and Cold Lake

The term of office will commence on January 1, 2020 and shall be four (4) years as per Article 11.01.02. All Designated and all At Large General Chairpersons shall be nominated and elected by the membership in each region and affiliated group. In the Western Region, Bylaws Article 11.01.09 will be respected. In the Central Region, Bylaws Articles 11.01.07 and 11.01.08 will be respected. In the Eastern Region and Atlantic Provinces, Bylaw Article 11.01.06 will be respected.

Transportation District 140 Bylaws Article 11.03 states: “Nominations for General Chairperson(s) will take place at the first Local Lodge meeting within the affected region during the month of September.”
Article 11.03.01 states: “within twenty (20) days of the Local Lodge meeting where nomination(s) were closed, the accepted nominee must deliver to the District ST a letter, signed and bearing the LL seal by his or her Local Lodge Recording Secretary, stating that the nominee meets the eligibility requirements of this Article. In addition, the nominee must submit a signed letter stating their acceptance of the nomination.”

Candidates may only declare and accept nomination for one (1) position (either Designated or At Large) in accordance with articles 11.03.01 and 11.07.05. In order to qualify for office, nominees must meet the requirements of Article V, Section 5.07 of the Transportation District 140 Bylaws. Members wishing to stand as candidates should fully acquaint themselves with all of the terms and conditions of Article XI of the Transportation District 140 Bylaws.
Candidates shall be elected by absentee ballot and at ballot boxes in polling stations at all Local Lodges on Wednesday November, 13 2019 in accordance with the IAMAW Constitution and Transportation District 140 Bylaws, 11.04, 11.07.01 and 11.07.02.
