Your Union will be holding important membership information meetings as follows:
When: Wednesday May 17th 2017.
Where: Sheraton Gateway Hotel (Terminal 3) – Lugano Room
Times: 12:00 SHARP to 13:30 hours & 15:00 SHARP to 16:30 hours
We will also be conducting nominations for workplace representatives as follows:
Chief Steward: 1 Chief Steward required
Ramp AM shift: 3 additional Stewards required
Ramp PM shift: 3 additional Stewards required
Bag room AM shift: 2 additional Steward required
Bag room PM shift: 2 additional Steward required
Health & Safety: 1 additional Member required

A Steward’s responsibility includes assisting the members with their complaints and grievances, investigating and gathering details, facts, statements, etc. related to complaints and grievances, providing the membership with representation at meetings with management and assisting the Chief Steward in the processing of grievances.
The Chief Steward has extra responsibilities, aside from those above. He/she is expected to have an introduction session with new hires, provide them with a copy of the collective agreement and ensure Union enrolment forms are completed as per 4.02(c) of the CBA. He/she is also expected to participate in Labour Relations meetings with the Company and assist in preparing the meeting agenda. He/she shall regularly communicate with the Stewards and process grievances through the steps set out in Article 9.02 of your grievance procedure. The Chief Steward should also keep his/her District General Chairperson informed about outstanding issues at the workplace and he/she should attend Local Lodge meetings whenever possible.

Members who cannot attend but wish to be nominated may have any other member in attendance at the meeting make the nomination. However, you must have someone at the meeting present a letter from you indicating that if nominated for a specific position, you accept your nomination. This type acceptance letter can also be emailed to me prior to the meetings on May 17th.
Anyone seeking nomination must have completed their probationary period.
