RE: CIRB DECISION
Download Bulletin RE: CIRB Decision
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The IAMAW has requested that the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) grant the IAMAW, and its Members working for CAFAS (Consolidated Aviation Fueling and Services) in Montréal & Consolidated Aviation in Toronto, with “Interim Relief”. The primary purpose of filing this request was to ensure that the IAMAW and its Members had the right to true justice by allowing your Union and its legal counsel to present its arguments prior to the transferring of any fueling contract and our Members’ jobs to other service providers.
We have just been informed by our legal representative that the CIRB sand bagged our CAFAS & Consolidated Aviation Members by dismissing the IAMAW’s request for “Interim Relief” without giving any reasons as to why. As such, the IAMAW, through its legal counsel, is requesting that the CIRB provide the reason as to why they dismissed this request. The CIRB has also indicated that they will begin to hear the IAMAW’s main Common Employer and the Unfair Labour Practice Applications either later this summer or in the fall of this year. Unfortunately, our Members’ jobs will most likely be transferred to other service providers prior to the commencement of these hearings. Had the CIRB granted the Union and its affected Membership with “Interim Relief” this could have been prevented from occurring.
We will continue to keep you advised of any developments in regards to this matter
In Solidarity,
Fred Hospes,
President & Directing General Chairperson
