We will be conducting nominations for Chief Shop Steward at your work place,\u00a0
The term of this position is 2 years ( Current –\u00a0 March 31st \/ 2023 )<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nominations will be accepted on Tuesday October 5\/2021<\/strong> at The Local Lodge<\/strong> Meeting,
If we have more than 1 candidate nominated for the position of Chief Steward an Election shall take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This Election will take place electronically via a valid personal email through a secure website voting system.(work emails will not be accepted)<\/strong>
Anyone seeking nomination must have completed their probationary period, <\/span>
and be a union member in good standing for 1 year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Election Date : Monday October 18\/2021\u00a0\u00a0 Hrs:\u00a0 9am –\u00a0 7pm.\u00a0\u00a0 ( if required )<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration for Voting in this election will take place from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday October 6 \/2021 to Friday October 15 \/2021 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only Members who are currently working as of September 2021 will be eligible to vote.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Steward has extra responsibilities, aside from those of a Steward.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • He\/she is expected to have an introduction session with all new hires, provide them with a copy of the collective agreement and ensure Union Application forms are completed as per 4.02(c) of the CBA.<\/li>
  • He\/she is also expected to participate in Labour Relations meetings with the Company and
    assist in preparing the meeting agenda.<\/li>
  • He\/she shall regularly communicate with the Stewards and process grievances through the steps set out in Article 9.02 of your grievance procedure.<\/li>
  • The Chief Steward should also keep his\/her District General Chairperson informed about
    outstanding issues at the workplace and he\/she should attend Local Lodge meetings whenever
    possible. )<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
